'Grandma & I' is a film that explores memory in the grips of an illness that threatens to take it away.

CONCEPT

I made a video of my grandma in Year One of university. I only filmed her and put a meaningful song as a soundtrack. I wanted to challenge myself and see how much I have improved in the past two years. I wanted to open myself up a little more, because I am always shy when it comes to exploring personal projects. Therefore, I have chosen the same topic but using a different type of approach to develop and present the work.

RESEARCH

I have been living with my grandmother since I was born. Mum and Dad usually did not come home until very late, as they were busy at work. But my grandma had to stay home all the time because she got Alzheimer disease since 2006. So there were very limited things she could do everyday. That was why I got so used to her being around me and relying on her whenever I was back in Hong Kong for the holidays. Therefore, I decided to discover the history of her life, and take a closer look of how I relied on her when I was young.
