Qingyang Street is located in the centre of the city of Chengdu, China. A typical street within residential sites. In a typical Chinese metropolis.

CONCEPT

Life of a market. The co-existence of of China's old heritage and new wealth. I had noticed for a long time, that there was a sense of intimacy in cities in China, something which is different from the rest of the world.

RESEARCH

Before I went there, I did lots of research in the first term. I read books into forms of community life. I had found a lot of interesting facts in the past and present, and there were also evidence that relates to my mind. Chinese had always have the habit of spending time on street, having loads of activities, and this is why I chose to film a street, and I defined the market as part of street. The second part of the research is watching films, mostly abstract films, inspired one such as Berlin, Symphony of a Great City, trying to learn the film language.
